Common Questions

Will my procedures be painful?

We will take every measure to ensure that your procedure is in no way uncomfortable or painful. If treatment is needed, local anesthesia will be administered to numb the area. For most patients, the feeling of numbness usually subsides after 2-3 hours.

Will I have pain following my procedure?

With most dental procedures, some discomfort can be anticipated after treatment. The discomfort can typically be managed using only over the counter prescriptions such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen, however Dr. Karsen will prescribe additional medication based on patient need. Most tenderness usually subsides within two to three days.

Will I need to return to your office for follow-ups after the procedure is finished?

Most surgical procedures will require at minimum one post-operative appointment. Many procedures will have multiple follow ups to assess the course of healing.

For non surgical therapies, a re-evaluation is typically recommended in six to eight weeks to assess your periodontal health.
